Our popular two dayrncourse is designed to give you the fundamental skills and necessary to startrnsea kayaking safely on protected waters. Our Instructor/Student ratio is 1:6,rnso you are assured of first class tuition and service.

The Sea Starter course is:

·       Held over two days: Saturday and Sunday

rnrn

·       Sea Starter Courses are held monthly at our Training & HirernCentre at Sandringham

rnrn

At the conclusion ofrnthe course you will be entitled to four hours* of FREE sea kayak hire. A greatrnopportunity to hone and consolidate your new skills! Children, 14 and under arernfree, however they must paddle a double sea kayak with an adult.

·       Choosing the right kayak

·       Efficient methods of turning and steering your kayak

rnrn

·       Efficient forward paddling techniques

rnrn

·       Stopping, reversing and making your kayak go sideways

·       Effects of tides and wind

rnrn

·       Edging and leaning

rnrn

·       Wet exits

rnrn

Day 2

rnrn

·       Review and revise

rnrn

·       The low support stroke

rnrn

·       C-C motion / hip flick

rnrn

·       Principles of Eskimo rolling

rnrn

·       Self rescues, assisted rescues

rnrn

·       Towing methods involving two or more paddlers

rnrn

·       Trip planning and trip ideas

rnrn

·       Group management skills.

How much & what does it include?

·       $300 per person or $250 if using your own kayak (must meet arnspecified standard)

rnrn

·       If you wish to undertake this course in one of our stable doublernsea kayaks the price is $450 for 2 people (over 14)**

Qualify for your Paddle Australia (PA) Basic Skills Award (Kayak) - includingrncertificate and registration - $35 per person - if there are two of you in arndouble let us know if you are both undertaking the award

·       Sea kayak and accessories, safety gear and paddling jacket

·       Four hours complementary sea kayak hire (valid for six monthsrn& not available if doing the course in your own kayak)
