Sea Skills Course

Sea Kayaking is a unique and spectacular way to view therncoastline, and you will often experience some close encounters with marine wildlife.

Dates for Course: Sunday, 1, 15, 22 March 2020. (9.00am torn3.30pm)

Over the 3 days the course introduces skills necessary forrnsea kayaking in coastal environments including:

How to launch and land successfully in surf

rnrn

Performing efficient paddle strokes while looking after yourrnshoulder and other joints

rnrn

Being able to rescue capsized craft and perform assistedrnrescues Also briefly covering rolling (self-rescue) however extra rollingrnsessions are available as well as re-entry and roll

rnrn

The course is one of the Paddle Australia QualificationrnScheme (PAQS) courses and the holder of this award has demonstrated the abilityrnto plan and conduct personal day-based activities in sea kayaks in coastalrnconditions.

Pre-requisite for this course is Flatwater Skills orrndemonstrated equivalent skills.

Select appropriate clothing and equipment, Perform paddlernstrokes, Rescues and towing, Plan an activity, Interpret weather forecasts,rnNavigation in a coastal environment.

Locations for the Course: (these locations are weatherrndependent and may be changed to suit conditions on the day)

Sunday 1st March – Paddle South Australia at WestrnLakes.

rnrn

Sunday 15th March – Seacliff.

rnrn

Sunday 22nd March – Port Noarlunga

Plus a weekend overnight trip: Saturday 4th &rnSunday 5th April. Probably Wardang Island, TBC

Please ensure you have been in contact with Paddle SA prior to registering for this course to ensure you have the appropriate skills and information to take part.
There will also be a $20.00 fee to register your qualification with Paddle Australia for 3 years. You will only be invoiced for your PA registration at the successful completion of your assessment.
